Overview

On this lesson, we will take a look on the “Sprints” section under Requirements. Similar than “Weigh and Assign” section, this feature will help us to organize the items created in the project backlog and reassign on the different iterations defined in our roadmap.

Let’s review the sprint definition and then will focus on the feature in Wayfast.

What are Sprints?

A sprint is a short, time-boxed period when a scrum team works to complete a set amount of work.(…) The team then creates a plan for how they will build the backlog items and get them “Done” before the end of the sprint. The work items chosen and the plan for how to get them done is called the sprint backlog.  Scrum Sprints: Everything You Need to Know | Atlassian

Sprint will help us to set in which time-boxed period will be included those requirements, bugs and user stories that Product Owner created for our project.

How to create new sprints?

If we want to setup new iterations to our project, we can navigate to “Sprints” tab and click on “New” button

A popup is displayed to complete the required fields for the new object’s creation

If we have requirements without associated sprint, we can assign automatically to the new item and click on “Submit” button.

Dashboard will refresh the information pointing the number of tasks related depending on the development stage. In this example, we turn this requirement into “Active” status, so we can expect the new status on the sprint associated.

How to include the requirements on any Sprint iteration?

During previous lessons, we created the requirements and assigned the tasks to the different team members. Now we are going to setup a relationship between the task and the iteration plan for development. This management will help us to prioritize the requirements based on the size and the importance.

Let’s go to “Sprints” tab under Requirements top menu

Sprint’s dashboard is displayed on the screen with all the details. In the example, the project contains Sprint 1 and Sprint 2 with the Start Date definition.

Let’s include the requirements created on any of them available. Click on “Sprint” link on “Description” column

A popup is displayed with the Sprint’s details and also it populates the requirements available to be assigned on the iteration. Check the items and click on “Submit” button

Navigate to the “Requirements” tab and you can filter by the Sprint iteration, the items associated are going to be displayed on the board.

Recap

Wayfast offers different tools to code an application in a simple way. During this lesson, we learnt that it’s a full platform that give us the chance to manage and owner the project in the latest methodologies that can help any team to organize the work and turn application features into reality.
