Weigh and Assign
Overview
Many projects are result of different ideas that Product Owners support on the development team by prioritizing the backlog and creating different user stories. This lesson will analyze in focus the “Weigh and Assign” feature that help Product Owner to setup in one place all the different requirements previously generated in the project.
How to assign and estimate the requirements created?
Since we created different requirements during the previous lessons, let’s create another one without completing “Developer” and “Size” fields. We will meet the right estimation and the owner when these items are planned in the roadmap for the project.
Click on “Requirements” at top menu
Then click on “New requirement” button
Include a brief description related to the item that we are going to create and click on “Submit” button.
Now that we have the requirement generated, let’s go to the “Weigh and Assign” tab
Grid view is displayed on screen with all the user stories, requirements and bugs not assigned at the moment in the project. If we select the “Assignment” and “Size” values on each row, we can make a massive modification over the items and organize the project timeline accordingly.
A dropdown list will be displayed for “Assignment” with all the team members under the project to reassign the task. Also we can estimate the size of development item. Once these are completed, click on “Submit” button and they are not going to be displayed in “Weigh and Assign” section anymore.
Recap
During this lesson, we learnt how to manage the different requirements, user stories and bugs created into the project backlog and how these items can be reassigned or even how to setup the effort that they will take in future iterations.
